Rowan Johnson
With a passion for movement, Rowan began performing stunts at the age of five and has moved on to receive her BA in Theatre Arts from Hendrix College and study myriad performance styles at such schools as the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy, Circus School New York, and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Over time, she has become increasingly involved with the Society of American Fight Directors and can now be found traveling throughout the United States studying, performing and teaching physical theatre and martial arts.
Though Rowan will never consider her education finished, she has quickly transitioned into the professional world directing both traditional and experimental theatre, fight directing and stunt coordinating for film and stage, and of course performing in everything she can from sideshow contortion to action films to Commedia dell’Arte.
Rowan’s objective is twofold: challenge audiences to discover new ideas within themselves through physical art that transcends the lingual barriers that so limit us in our everyday lives, and promote fitness with a love of performance, dedication, and playing.
